mgr Mateusz Krępa

Who am I?

I am a PhD candidate in the Doctoral School of Social Sciences of the University of Warsaw and an affiliate researcher in the Centre of Migration Research. In the past I was working in the public administration responsible for the assistance for asylum seekers in Poland.

What are my academic interests?

My PhD thesis is focused on security ideology and practices of NGOs dealing with migration in Poland. My academic interests are critical security studies, security-migration nexus, policies on security and migration, situation of refugees and the methodology of social sciences.

What do I teach?

I am co-leading the class ‘Violent conflict, war and migration’ with Dr Marta Jaroszewicz. The aim of these classes is to disentangle the complicated and unobvious links between security and migration as well to approach critically the concept of ‘forced migration’ and ‘migration crises’.

Why ISSC?

The  interdisciplinary approach offered by ISSC provides students with the opportunity to critically reflect on the links between various and complex social phenomena.
