Who am I?
I am a member of Vilamowian community and chair of the “Vilamovians” Association (Stowarzyszenie “Wilamowianie”) as well as an ethnographer, anthropologist, and culture activist involved in the efforts to revitalize the Wymysorys language and Vilamovian culture. I graduated in Culture Management and Ethnology from the Jagiellonian University in Krakow. Currently, I’m a Ph.D. student at the University of Warsaw’s Faculty of “Artes Liberales”.
What are my academic interests?
My academic and activist interests are situated primarily in the field of folklore studies, with a focus on Wilamowice. I’m focused on museology and a holistic approach to cultural revitalization. I’m also very much involved with several projects related to the language and culture of Wilamowice – setting museum of Vilamovian culture and creating a friendly space for language development.
What do I teach?
The participants of the course “Wilamowice. Participatory Research in Practice” will be able to practice a holistic approach to community-driven research. The course aims to find a way to adopt the dynamics of a scholarly approach to field research concerning local knowledge, attitudes, and expectations.
Why ISSC?
The partnership between scholars and members of the community is much the goal of the decolonization approach with cooperation with minorities. I deeply believe that the graduates of the ISSC program – future scholars, activists, and opinion makers, may contribute to achieving this aim.
