dr Marta Kindler

Who am I?

I am a sociologist in the Department of Applied Social Sciences and Resocialisation and at the Centre of Migration Research, University of Warsaw. A graduate of McGill University (Canada), I completed my PhD in socio-cultural anthropology at the European University Viadrina (Germany).

What are my academic interests?

My research interest involve the role of social networks in migration, social risk and knowledge production. I am the co-editor of the book „ Ukrainian Migration to the European Union: Lessons from Migration Studies ” (2016) and a Board Member of IMISCOE Standing Committee “Reflexivities in Migration Studies”.

What do I teach?

I teach at ISCC the course “Risks in Modern Societies”.

Why ISSC?

Teaching on social change and related risks, how risks are constructed, how do people respond to and think about risk, is close to my research interests. I look forward to lively discussions whether we live in a ‘risk society’ today.
