Who am I?

I hail from Kęty. I graduated from the Warsaw School of Economics (Quantitative Methods in Economics and Information Systems) and the University of Warsaw’s Institute of Ethnology and Cultural Anthropology. I work at the University’s Faculty of “Artes Liberales”, and I am a member of the international team at its Center for Research and Practice in Cultural Continuity. I dream of farming. I don’t like linguistic purism and centralization.

What are my academic interests?

I am striving for transdisciplinarity. Therefore, my academic interests are either problem-oriented or focused on a specific socio-cultural region. Since childhood I have been researching the history, culture, languages of the region I come from (including nearby Wilamowice). The other area where I work is the Ukrainian Carpathians. The several ethnographic fieldwork stays were one of the most wonderful experiences in my life. In my scholarly activity, I am trying to encompass interconnections between culture, language, and economy. I am engaged in actions aimed at the revitalization of minority languages.

What do I teach?

The participants of the course Ukraine in Transformation. People and State will have an opportunity to listen to the polyphonic voices of scholars, artists, and activists from different parts of the country. The aim of the course Practical Introduction to Anthropology. Finding the way to interpret the dynamics of sociocultural change is to introduce students to the theory, methods, and “craft” of Cultural and Linguistic Anthropology through their work on individual research projects. These skills and ethical attitudes may be further developed within the experimental course Wilamowice. Participatory research in practice which is concluded with community-based fieldwork.

Why ISSC?

Even if science is not always changing the world for the better, it should, at least, help people to comprehend the changing world. I deeply believe that the graduates of the ISSC program – future scholars, activists, and opinion makers, may contribute to achieving this goal.
