Who am I?

I am Spanish. I come from La Rioja region, famous for its wines. I am an historian. I finished my studies and PhD at the University of La Rioja in Logroño. Since 2005 I work at the University of Warsaw as a professor.

What are my academic interests?

I am a specialist on 18-19th centuries history of Spain, also Polish-Spanish relations. I wrote two books, one about Spanish Prime Minister’s of the 18th century, Marquis of Ensenada, political circle, and another about Polish participation in Sieges of Zaragoza 1808-1809, for which I obtained the first Prize in the historical contest of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 2018.

What do I teach?

As a researcher at the Faculty of “Artes Liberales” of the University of Warsaw, I teach in Spanish language history, culture and politics in Spain. There are both lectures and seminars.

Why ISSC?

The concept of this studies is a new formula. The subject is very vast, but it touches the actual challenges. But we also give a chance to learn Spanish language well and to be an expert of Spain. I do not know studies of second level which combine these two elements.
