Who am I?
I am a sociologist with a PhD in Social and Political Science from the European University Institute, Florence. Since 2015 I have worked as an Assistant Professor and researcher at the Centre of Migration Research, University of Warsaw. Before, I worked for international and non-governmental organisations, as well as Statistics Poland.
What are my academic interests?
In my work, I combine migration, sociology of family and social demography. I specialise in the dynamics of migrant families, transnational care and intergenerational relations. As the Chair of the Research Ethics Committee at CMR, I am interested especially in the ethics of qualitative fieldwork and Internet-based migration research. My current research project concentrates on the impact of out-migration, return migration and immigration on reproductive intentions and fertility patterns in low fertility societies.”
What do I teach?
I will be co-running the core ISSC course Introduction to Social Science Methods. At CMR I teach post-graduate courses on basic concepts, non-economic theories of international migration and migration in the life course.
Why ISSC?
In view of the emerging crises, we need interdisciplinary approaches to prepare comprehensively for the consequences of global instability and rapid social change. This programme gives students the tools for transdisciplinary collaboration in their future roles. I find comparing European borderlands, such as Poland and Italy intellectually enriching.
